REC LIMITED

REC Limited (formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited) is a Maharatna public sector infrastructure finance company under India’s Ministry of Power. Incorporated in 1969, it provides financial assistance—including long-, medium‑, and short‑term loans, refinancing, equity financing, and consultancy—for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects, and increasingly for non‑power infrastructure such as roads, metros, ports, and airports. Its CSR arm, REC Foundation, has sanctioned over ₹1,100 crore across more than 300 projects focused on sanitation and hygiene, healthcare, skill development (including sports training), women’s empowerment, rural infrastructure, environmental sustainability—aligning with national development and inclusive growth agendas.
