GAIL (INDIA) LIMITED
GAIL (India) Limited, formerly Gas Authority of India Limited, is a central public sector undertaking under India’s Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. It was incorporated on 16 August 1984 and is India’s largest natural gas company, operating across the entire natural gas value chain—including transmission, marketing, LNG sourcing and regasification, LPG and polymer production, city gas distribution, renewables, and upstream exploration and production. GAIL commits approximately 2% of its average net profit (preceding three years) to CSR. Its CSR programs focus on education (e.g. GAIL Utkarsh), healthcare (e.g. mobile medical units), safe drinking water (e.g. RO plants), environmental sustainability, sanitation, and aligned social development in communities near its operations—often mapped to UN Sustainable Development Goals.
